I have a big, brown, hairy birthmark on my chest. It sounds as though you have a congenital or giant hairy naevus. It is important to remember that being so large they cary a higher risk of developing malignant melanoma [a form of skin cancer] than smaler . There are reports of melanoma ocuring in betwen 10 and 30 per cent of giant hairy naevi. If they agre that it fals into the category above, then you wil probably be refered to a consultant dermatologist or plastic surgeon to consider having the naevus surgicaly removed. birthmark hairy birthmark hairy
